About Neal's Yard

Natural inner & outer beauty

Established in 1981, Neal’s Yard Remedies is a modern apothecary, creating award-winning natural and organic health and beauty. From small beginnings in a quiet corner of Covent Garden, they are now a global leader with a growing presence across five continents – but remain grounded in the belief that outer beauty and inner health should be in perfect balance.

Using the highest possible percentage of organic ingredients as they are kinder to the earth – and kinder to you.

Using ethically sourced herbs, botanicals and essential oils, our experts handcraft potent blends of love, science and nature.

As passionate advocates of organic living they want to help people to live happier, healthier lives and protect our beautiful planet.

From becoming the UK’s first certified organic health and beauty brand, to helping ban plastic microbeads, Neal’s Yard Remedies is a truly pioneering force.

Certified organic

Pioneers in certified organic beauty and health, having been certified by the Soil Association since 1991. They certify their products with the Soil Association, internationally recognised for their incredibly high standards for organic food and beauty. This guarantees that a product contains the highest levels of certified organic ingredients. Their products are now certified (by the Soil Association) to the new robust organic standard for health and beauty worldwide COSMOS Organic.

Natural ingredients

They use natural, organic and ethically sourced herbs, botanicals and essential oils, free from harmful chemicals.

Family owned

Organic advocates, the Kindersleys, bought Neal's Yard Remedies in 2006 and reinforced their holistic approach to health and beauty.

Animal friendly

They test on willing humans and have never tested on animals. They believe that beauty and household products should be cruelty free, and are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.

All of our cosmetic, personal care and household products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. Vegetarian Society

All products are vegetarian and many are also suitable for vegans and they only use sustainably sourced, organic honey, beeswax and propolis.

Beautifully British

They handcraft their beautiful products at the eco factory in Dorset.

Small scale production

We make our products in small batches to ensure they are as fresh and effective as possible. Our production team fills, labels and packages our products before checking every bottle, jar and tube by hand to ensure quality and consistency.

The logo

The tree symbolises their belief that outer beauty and inner health should be in perfect balance.

Beauty that protects the planet

The world’s first health and beauty company to be awarded 100/100 for ethics by The Ethical Company Organisation. As an ethical company, they are mindful of the responsibility to mitigate climate change and think it’s important to lead by example. That’s why, as well as trading ethically and sustainably, they actively reduce or off-set carbon emissions throughout the business. They believe that their mission to enhance and protect people's health and wellbeing starts with the very first seed, long before our ingredients arrive at our eco factory. That’s why they build strong, lasting relationships with growers who use organic, sustainable and wild-harvesting practices.

Blue bottles for a green future

The blue pigment reduces the light reaching the product, helping to protect the delicate aromas and herbal properties, allowing them to make skincare with few, if any, preservatives.

Sustainable packaging

They use recyclable packaging, sourced from the UK wherever possible to reduce transport miles. All gift boxes and product cartons are FSC® (Forestry Stewardship Council) sustainability-sourced, and use World Land Trust™ certified Carbon Balanced packaging. This means that they offset the amount of CO2 used to make our packaging by protecting tropical forest. Since 2012 they have helped save over 1,000,000m² of endangered forest, offsetting 250 tonnes of CO2.

FairWild

FairWild ensures a fair deal all along the supply chain and support for the sustainable use of wild-harvested ingredients.

Campaigning

We care deeply about our planet and actively support causes close to our heart.
